Parody of Love Wins, by Rob Bell

by drbeck on April 4, 2011

In February 2011 megachurch pastor Rob Bell shook the evangelical world with the video promotion of his new book Love Wins. The response that ensued surprised many pastors and church leaders as suddenly Universalists began coming out of the woodwork, passionately commenting on opposing blogs and even writing their own. Those supporting Bell simply said, “there’s nothing wrong with asking questions. That’s all Rob Bell is doing, asking honest questions.” Since the book has come out, Bell has been making all the secular talk show rounds, promoting his book (which takes Scripture out of context to show that everyone goes heaven.)

Below is a parody of Bell’s video, but first let’s watch the original video.

Now the parody.

I agree that Rob Bell’s video is scary and sad and Scripturally unsound, but I think we have to be careful about mocking. I’ve learned the hard way and experienced the hard way that making fun and mocking does not display the love of Christ. Not to the ones we are trying to prove untrue and not to the ones we are trying to share the truth with because we care.

I’m not a fan of most of the video but 2:20- 2:35 hits the nail on the head. After that it seems to be making fun in a personal way.
